About
Carrier...
The history of air-conditioning is the
history of Carrier, and there is more behind the comfort we take for
granted on a sweltering summer day than you might think.
In 1902, Dr. Willis Carrier invented the
world's first centrifugal air-conditioner, capable of controlling both
the temperature and humidity in any indoor environment. This invention
helped to create comfortable commercial and industrial environments. In
1906, Dr Carrier patented his first device - "An Apparatus for
Treating Air". He also devised a list of industries that could
improve their products by using "conditioned air", such as
razor blade, meat packing and soap manufacturers. Encouraged by his
success, Dr. Carrier and his friends formed the Carrier Engineering
Company in 1915.
Carrier's reputation for delivering
efficient and innovative systems for commercial, industrial and domestic
end-users was enhanced by its acquisition in 1979 by United Technologies
Corporation (UTC), a listed Fortune 500 company in the USA. Since then, Carrier has
grown to become the world's leading manufacturer of
technologically-advanced heating, cooling and ventilation equipment, and
a name that is internationally recognized.
Today, the Carrier Corporation is also dedicated to preserving our environment.
We know that heating, cooling, ventilation and refrigeration are no longer just
i ssues of comfort. We recognize the urgent need to maintain a reasonable balance
between the comfort we create today and the world we live in tomorrow. Caring
about the world outside is an integral part of our master plan and is a primary
focus in all aspects of our operations.
With our headquarters in Farmington, Connecticut in the United States, Carrier,
the world largest air conditioning company, also has factories in France, Italy,
Japan, Malaysia, China, Taiwan, Korea, Thailand, India, Australia and South
America. Together with its over 145 branch offices covering markets all over the
world, we form a concrete global air conditioning network.
