Tips on buying air conditioners...  
  • Determine the cooling capacity you need :
The size of the room is very important. The following diagram gives you the minimum BTU/HR requirement for different room sizes
Higher BTU/HR is needed if there are many heat equipment generating in the room, such as TV's and lamps.
If the room gets a lot of sunlight, then higher BTU/HR is needed.
Penthouses are subject to more sunlight than lower floors, therefore higher BTU/HR is needed in the room. 
  • You need to choose a place that can accommodate both the weight and size of the unit.
  • You need to decide what type of air conditioner you want, WINDOW TYPE, SPLIT TYPE OR WINDOW-SPLIT TYPE.
  • You need to consider the features you need. e.g. timers, air swing, fan only switch, dual-clean filter, remote control, etc.
