Tips on using air conditioners...
  • Set your thermostat as high as comfortably possible in the summer
  • Consider using a fan concurrently with your window air conditioner, as the fan will help spread the cooled air more effectively throughout the room.
  • Keep heat sources (e.g. lamps, TV sets) away from your air conditioner, as they will cause your air conditioner to run longer than necessary.
  • Avoid creating extra heat by cooking or drying clothes when the air conditioner is on.
  • Avoid placing the condensing unit on the roof or exposed to direct sunlight. Sunlight will heat up the unit and reduce its efficiency. If this is not possible, then shade the units but do not block the air flow.

  • Keep windows and doors closed when air conditioner is on.
  • Clean or replace air filters regularly. A dirty filter will reduce the unit efficiency.
  • Do not obstruct the air discharge from the inside or the outside of the air conditioner. This will reduce the air flow and may result in unit malfunction.
